Silent Crescendos

What if piano keys played emotion instead of sound? The room would swell with silent crescendos of despair and joy, disappointment and laughter. B sharp wouldn’t be B sharp, but the collision of your worst late-at-night worries. The high E could be the moment you felt most loved. Fur Elise would sound like a barefoot walk through all the seasons.

People would exit concert halls silently, their musical reviews written in tear streaks and smiles. Fingers would intertwine. Hugs would linger. If piano keys played emotion instead of sound, maybe we would hear each other. Maybe we would finally hear what it is to be human.
